I hired Joe for a whole house project, and I highly recommend his work. The qualify of work is excellent, and his rates are reasonable. Joe was partner throughout the process, and he was meticulous in putting together proposals each time I made an additional request or we uncovered pre-existing issues that required repair. Joe is a good man, and I am extremely fortunate that I found him.

JL Smith is our go to contractor. He has brought our 50 year old house into the 21st century. Over a few years he has remodeled our: basement, kitchen, master bath, hall bath and foyer. Additionally, he painted the rooms on our main floor, replaced all the interior doors and hardware and upgraded our electrical system. We didn’t want just a cosmetic redo. We wanted our house to be ready to carry us through retirement with minimal issues. So our renovations were from the studs out. This included plumbing, electrical, wall insulation and termite repair. We love working with Mr. Smith. He is unflappable. His integrity, calm demeanor, expert workmanship and customer focus is what sets him apart from other competitors. If we have another project or are asked to refer a contractor to family or friends, we go to Joe Smith. I cannot recommend JL Smith more highly.

Mr. Smith and his team were professional and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the work. Mr. Smith proved to be a consummate professional and skilled carpenter, as well as patient, friendly, and thorough. His subcontractors, especially the master cabinetmaker, were highly skilled. Once the kitchen was demolished, a leak under the floor was finally identified. Mr. Smith explained the problem and the solution, and his remedy finally corrected a long-standing plumbing problem that had been overlooked by other contractors. We love our new kitchen, and we highly recommend J. L. Smith Repair and Remodeling.

He removed the garage door opener and braces,built a wall and insulated it, built storage closets a book case, a window seat with storage,put in lights, ceiling fan, baseboard heating,opened pass through into kitchen with a bar, enlarged opening into laundry room,finished walls,painted, and layed carpeting. The workmanship was excellent and done with in a timely manner. We couldn't be more pleased.

I had a list of about 9 things. He was only able to do one of them. Make certain you call to identify what work they will do. They did a decent job on the one piece of work they did, but the price was at least triple what I would've paid.

"[member name removed] participated in Angie's List Big Deal promotion. The promotion was for labor only and only one visit. [member name removed]'s concern was a french door that wasn't installed properly by a previous contractor the year before. We did the best we could and suggested that the door needed to be replaced to correct all of the issues. While working on this door, [member name removed] also asked if we could install a thermostat. I responded "no". I was not asked to repair or install anything else. I was unware of any other items on her list."
